“A shared moment of celebration”
To the 70+ who attend the VE day 80th Anniversary at the Village Hall – THANK YOU for coming. We think you will agree, it was a memorable event and hope you all enjoyed taking part.
We were amazed at the number of cakes and savouries donated. Those remaining were taken home for a donation towards The Royal British Legion, which raised over £110.00.
A BIG thank you to all the volunteer helpers from, Capel Cares, Parish Council, Village Hall Management Committee and Women’s Institute. In addition, Brian, Pam, Keith and Philippa for officiating, the two musicians Mick and Danny, music director Mathew, Sharon and Steph in the ice-cream van, WI member Alison for making and icing the delicious commemorative cake and all those that kept the tea/coffee flowing in the kitchen.

Well, the weather was not kind to us at the start.
Not what the Met Office forecast!
But we carried on “as our lads did in 1944”.
Firstly, many thanks to the volunteers that responded to our call for help on the day. This was greatly received and appreciated by our organisers.
BIG thank you to Streetz 2 Streetz Fish and Chip van, Ice Delights vendors and those in the kitchen, for providing refreshments. Although a bit damp in the car park, they too battled on with yummy goodies for everyone.
This brings us on secondly to Kent Police. Accompanied by a Chief Inspector and Leaders, approximately 30 junior and senior Police Cadets from the Dover Group joined us in listening to music of the era and enjoying fish, chips, burgers, nuggets etc.
With luck, the weather improved greatly by 8.30pm. So, the Cadets formed up in the Village Hall Car Park and very impressively marched to the Battle of Britain Memorial Site, for the official Lighting of the Beacon on the Clifftop. They were followed by the public walking and 6 riders from the Harley Owners Group
We hope those of you that attended, enjoyed the experience, remembering and commemorating those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them

CHEERS EVERYONE ….
From one of our residents, with her bubbly and Coronation Coaster!

The King has been crowned the nation’s monarch and prayed to be a “blessing” to people of “every faith and conviction”. God save the King
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐚𝐭𝐡 His Majesty swears upon a Bible to govern the people with justice and mercy, and to uphold the Anglican Church of England and the Presbyterian Church of Scotland. For the first time at a Coronation, His Majesty also prays for grace to be ‘a blessing to all… of every faith and belief’.

Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II
KEEPSAKE COPY OF CAPEL-LE-FERNE’S TRIBUTE TO
HER MAJESTY – QUEEN ELIZABETHH II. 1926 – 2022

A message of sympathy from the Chairperson.
Capel-le-Ferne Parish Council are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on the 8th September 2022. A truly inspirational Monarch who dedicated her life to her throne and her people. She taught us so much about the commitment we have to our communities,
our country and the world.
For many, including our Parishioners, she was the only Monarch we have known and loved, and she gained a very special place in our hearts. She had a plethora of wisdom and integrity.
The Councillors and Parishioners of Capel-le-Ferne, along with the rest of our country and people throughout the world, mourn the loss of our beloved Queen.
We send our condolences to the Royal Family.
